Basics of Fixed Restorations
This book summarises essential knowledge on fixed restorations crucial for the training of dental students, a synthesis cultivated through years of education at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Szeged.
It encompasses important aspects ranging from patient examination through to interventions for the implementation of various clinical and technical procedures, including also the post-treatment care of patients with fixed restoration. The process for making fixed restorations is systematically detailed. However, delivering quality care is inconceivable without incorporating up-to-date material science and a thorough understanding of dental technology, so when writing this book, the authors also emphasised these aspects. Furthermore, since it is especially difficult for young dentists to decide which material is most appropriate for a particular restoration and most beneficial for the patient - this book provides guidance and advice for overcoming this dilemma.
Although the topic of fixed dental prostheses represents only a small area of dentistry, several specialists have contributed to various topics, including the chapter about an emerging field in dentistry known as digital dentistry, which merits its own separate chapter. The numerous drawings and photographs serve the purpose of aiding readers, especially dental students, in understanding and learning the content easy.
The authors tried to clarify the basic principles of making fixed dentures. In the process of writing, they strove for brevity and logical structure; avoiding complicated sentences or descriptions that would make it difficult for students to understand, and relied upon the experiences passed on by their predecessors and supplemented it with the presentation of the latest procedures.
